Class Level Guidelines

OPEN ENROLLMENT:
Ballet I-II (8-10) :Early learning fundamentals in basic ballet vocabulary and skills. Minimum 1-2 yr placement. Highly recommended to be taken in addition to class - Tap/Jazz Combo I-II (8-10), Tap/Jazz Combo II (8/9), Tap/Jazz Combo II (9-10).
Tap or Jazz Level I-II (8-10): Beginning to progressive Beginning; for new to Spectrum Dance students with minimal dance experience who are in 2017-18 Academic Grade 3-5. Minimum 1-2 yr placement.

Tap/Jazz Combo II (8-9), Tap/Jazz Combo II (9-10) : Tap/Jazz Combo II (ages 8 or 9) and Jazz II or Tap II (ages 9-10) are for returning students who were enrolled and completed DS Combination I-II by June 2017 and who are in 2017-18 Academic Grade 2-4; or Single discipline study in Tap, and/or Jazz (ages 9-10) for returning students who were enrolled and completed DS Level I-II, or Combo II by June 2017 and who are in 2017-18 Academic Grade 4-6. Minimum 2yr placement. Students new to Spectrum Dance (ages 8-10) will be placed in Level I or I-II for a minimum of 1 year before progressing to Level II classes.
Level II-III (10-12): Single discipline study in Ballet, Tap, and/or Jazz for returning students who were enrolled and completed 2017 DS Level II or II-II by age 10 and who are in 2017-18 Academic Grade 5-7. Minimum 1-2yr placement.
Level III-IV (12-14): Highly progressed level; 2-3 yr placement/level. Prerequisites: 6-7 years consistent, same discipline training for students who were enrolled and completed up to 2017 DS Level III by age 12 in June 2017 and are in 2017-18 Academic Grade 7 or higher.
Preteen (PT 11-13)/Teen (13+) Beg through Open: Basic Beginning through highly progressed levels. Beginning classes for students with no dance experience to advanced beginning-intermediate (“OPEN”) levels. Must have consistent, single discipline study for at least 1-2 years. Minimum 3-4 yr placement in this level; Open classes are for returning students who have consistently studied at DS at least 4+ years. Students should be, at minimum, in 2017-18 Academic Grades 6 or higher.
Teen Open - Intermediate (13+): Highly progressed level; minimum 2-3yr placement. Prerequisites: Resuming study for students ages 13+ who
are returning to Spectrum Dance after a short period (less than 2 years) absence or who were enrolled and completed up to 2017 DS Level IV as of June 2017 by age 12 and with a minimum of 5 yrs consistent and same discipline dance study. Select students may be placed in classes found on the Teen/Adult schedule at the Director’s discretion.
Teen|Adult Intermediate- Advanced classes: Ages 18 or under. High challenge and skill level; Minimum 2 yr+ placement. Prerequisites: 7 yrs or more consistent, same discipline training.
